In June 2002, the last of 7.5 million brick was placed at Sprint Corp.'s sprawling new world headquarters in Overland Park, Kan. The project's statistics are staggering. An estimated 14,500 employees will occupy 4 million square feet of office space in 17 low-rise brick buildings on the 200-acre campus. In addition, there are 4 other buildings, as well as 14 parking structures, that use more than 12,000 pieces of precast concrete. At one point as many as 1200 construction workers and 19 cranes were working on what was, for some time, the world's largest construction site. With a value estimated at close to $1 billion, the project was completed in 5 years, right on schedule.
