The staff at MASONPRO, Northville, Mich., along with technical support from the Masonry Institute of Michigan, has assembled the 2006 “Guide to Inspecting Residential Brick Veneer.” The free 14-page guide provides home builders, masons, inspectors, and related industry professionals with details and descriptions of sound residential building practices that meet and/or exceed local, state, and national building codes.

The publication features a typical isometric drawing with descriptive callouts that identify the main building components, and a general discussion of several products, such as brick flashing, weeps, and corrugated wall ties. Numerous detailed drawings of common residential construction, such as the three depicted here, are also included. Other details in the publication depict the base of a wall, chimneys, porches, heads, and walk-out basements.
