This successful project, the Homer D. Babbidge Library, University of Connecticut, Storrs, Ct., represents a "great approach for updating an outdated building," the judges agreed. The university abandoned the option of reconstruction the exterior in favor of a more innovative solution to constuct new overlay walls against the existing walls. The plan was able to save several million dollars in repair costs.
