The work done to restore this building to its original elegance drew more enthusiasm from all of the judges than any other single project in the competition. An example of the Spanish Revival style, the Ponce de Leon Cooperative in Washington, D.C. is a circa-1928 five-story apartment building. The repair plan emphasized restoring the historic fabric of the building fatade while also reducing the risk of water penetration. The little details made the Ponce de Leon the epitome of excellence.
