Winners of the 15th Annual Excellence in Masonry Architectural Awards were announced recently. The program honored 11 projects for outstanding masonry design, workmanship, and creativity with the use of brick, block, or stone.

The awarded projects were selected by a panel of jurors from Las Vegas. Edward A. Vance, AIA, NCARB, president of JMA Architecture Studios, was the jury chairman. An award was presented to the architectural firm, structural engineering company, general contractor, masonry supplier, and masonry contractor for each winning project.

The Gold Trowel winner (top honor) was The Lake Residence, Tempe. The architectural firm was Architekton, Tempe; the masonry supplier was Western Block Co., Phoenix; and the masonry contractor was Pioneer Masonry Inc., Glendale.
