Many masonry contractors could move materials more efficiently than they do now by using brick or block carts. These economical, low-maintenance machines are particularly useful in interior, residential, and limited-access applications. The main advantage these carts have over both flatbed and standard wheelbarrows is that they eliminate the need to unpack and restack units. Thus, in order to be used effectively, brick and block carts require that units be delivered banded. Brick and block carts range in price from about $200 to $500, depending on tilt capacity, type and width of tires, the quality of steel used in the frame and forks, and adjustability. Tilt capacities range from about 350 pounds to 1000 pounds. Brick and block carts require little maintenance and can withstand considerable abuse. Commercial contractors find brick and block carts especially useful where access is limited, such as in stairwells, hallways, and offices. Viewed as a complement to other equipment and not as all-purpose machines, brick and block carts can save labor and boost profits.
