Historic Church Wears its Sunday Best

Built in 1922, Monte Vista United Methodist Church in Monte Vista, Colo., was added to the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties in 2003.

The walls of the original church were constructed from an unusual multicolored shiny brick known as purple tapestry brick. No other building in Monte Vista is constructed using this material.

Building Restoration Specialties tuckpointed and repaired the building's damaged stone using matching stone that was left over from another project. Workers also cleaned both sides of the building.
