Arizona Masonry Guild's Architectural Award Winners
The Arizona Masonry Guild's 17th Annual Excellence in Masonry Architectural Awards were recently presented during a special banquet held at the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center. The program honored 15 projects for outstanding masonry design, workmanship, and creativity with the use of brick, block, or stone.
The awarded projects were selected by an out of state panel of jurors. This year's panel was from Amarillo, Texas. Jim C. Doche, WD Architects, was the Jury Chairman and participated in the awards presentation. The architectural firm, structural engineering firm, general contractor, masonry contractor, and masonry supplier for each winning project were honored.
This Gold Trowel winner (top honor) was a private residence located in Phoenix. The architectural firm was Jones Studio, Phoenix; structural engineering firm was JT Engineering, Phoenix; and general contractor was Reliance Build Inc., Chandler. The masonry contractor was Maldonado-Olson Masonry Inc., Phoenix; and the masonry supplier was Superlite Block, Phoenix.

The Annual Excellence in Masonry Architectural Awards program is sponsored by the Arizona Masonry Guild Inc. The non-profit organization is celebrating 50 years of service to both the masonry industry and Arizonans.
The Guild and its members have played a significant role in economic development, new product and construction standards, enhanced safety policies, and increased energy efficiency of masonry products. It has been on the forefront of developing and implementing statewide educational seminars for the professional community and programs with Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, and the University of Arizona.
