This article discusses 10 errors that are commonly found in project specifications reviewed by the author. Because these errors lead to contractor confusion, deficiencies in the quality assurance program, and improperly built masonry, they should be avoided.

Problems examined are conflicting reference and descriptive requirements, incorrect standards, overly broad requirements, flashing/weeps, collar joints, compressive strength, wetting units, testing mortar, typographical errors, and structural frame tolerances.
