There's no getting around change orders, whether it is driven by the client, or because you found something during production ... but with this advice, you don't have to dread them anymore. Knowing how to approach change orders is key to keep your bottom line up and recently, Remodelers Advantage Inc., an international resource, offered this video featuring three simple tips to help you avoid becoming part of that statistic. One key place to start: Get everything in writing.
"Be sure that all changes are described in writing and signed by the client. Even a change order with no cost attached ... should be recorded in writing, so you can avoid tough discussions and misunderstandings later," says Victoria Downing, host of the Power Tips TV video and Remodelers Advantage president and chief inspiration officer.
