Les Witmer, founder and CEO of the Witmer & McCoy, Mt. Joy, Pa., was guided in his business career by principles he learned while growing up on a farm in a Mennonite community of Pennsylvania’s Lancaster County. Les and his son Todd believe in embracing a strong work ethic, striving for excellence, giving back to the industry and the community, and above all taking care of employees.
"We’ve grown almost 100% since 1998," said Todd. “We were doing a lot of things right in running the business. Most importantly, though, we had the strength and management talent to grow. Our field people wanted to become project managers, and the project managers wanted to become operations managers. We had to grow the business to give them these opportunities.”
A growing customer demand for restoration and repair services prompted the contractor to form Witmer Restoration three years ago. Lancaster is the country’s oldest inland city, and was the nation’s capital during the Revolutionary War, so it provides a steady market with buildings always needing a touchup or resealing.
