MASONRY CONSTRUCTION magazine’s second-annual “Top Contractors” listing based on 2002 masonry sales volume is nearly 50% larger than last year’s version with 74 companies participating. These contractors combined for over $1.1 billion in masonry revenue during 2002.

The commercial/industrial/institutional (CII) market accounted for the bulk of the work with over 74% of this total. The repair/renovation/restoration (RRR) market generated a little over 13% of the amount, and the residential segment was about 11%. Site amenities and “other” work accounted for the remainder.

McGee Brother Co. Inc. once again lead the listing parade with a substantial dollar advantage over the rest of the field.. The Monroe, N.C., contractor did $83 million in masonry work during 2002, with about 80% of that amount residential and the rest CII.
