With experience in concrete structural design, George Colgrove joins Cathedral Stone Products, Inc. as Research Engineer, Concrete & Masonry, where he applies knowledge of infrastructure construction and restoration to new product development.
Before joining Cathedral in March, Colgrove served the State of Vermont’s Agency of Transportation as Research Administrator for more than three years, and as a bridge engineer for 17 years. As a member of the New England Prestressed Concrete Institute Technical Committee, he helped develop regional standards for precast and pre-stressed concrete elements for highway applications.
In his role as Research Administrator, he was involved with testing Jahn mortars and grouts from Cathedral Stone Products on a 177-year-old stone pier and abutment of a covered bridge in Woodstock, VT. The systems proved successful in strengthening the structures, and showed strong potential for other transportation infrastructure restoration projects.
Colgrove earned his bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont. He currently resides in Arlington, VA.
Restoration systems from Cathedral Stone Products include: surface preparation products, masonry restoration systems and mineral coatings, masonry restraining systems and tools, as well as technical support, laboratory testing and custom color matching services.
