A masonry design course, developed by two professors at Cal Poly, that includes everything a university professor needs to teach a semester-long course is now being offered to others. It includes lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, lab procedures, and exams.
The course is designed so that anyone can teach masonry design and provides “professors at universities all the educational materials they need to teach the course.” Over the course of two years, Craig Baltimore and James Mwangi developed this course that is both adaptable to the semester and quarter systems found at institutions across the country.
As part of the class, students have the opportunity to tour a masonry plant. This allows students to see first-hand how the things they are learning in the classroom apply to the real world.
