Tom Bradley and his brother Todd founded Masonry Builders Inc., Tampa, Fla., in 1988. The company started out doing small commercial jobs and traveled all over Florida when there was no work in the Tampa Bay area. The company grew steadily from a sales volume of $2 million in its second year to $12.5 million in 2001. It now has about 150 employees.
Masonry Builders signature project is the Raymond James Football Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The job was riddled with challenges. An initial delay compressed the construction schedule from 12 months to 9 months, which deterred many masonry contractors from bidding it. The $8 million masonry job required a crew of about 200 who installed 1.2 million CMU.
