More than 4000 design, construction, and operations professionals traveled to Las Vegas for Construct2008 and the 52nd CSI Annual Convention.

The event kicked off with an opening general session where former CSI President Michael T. Owen Sr., FCSI, CDT, presented M. Arthur Gensler Jr., FAIA, FIIDA, RIBA, with the Institute's 2008 Michelangelo Award for his distinguished and innovative service to the industry. Keynote speaker Danny Forster, host of the Discovery Channel's Build It Bigger, talked about several projects featured on his television program, and discussed what is possible when architects, engineers, contractors, and manufacturers work together.

The conference featured more than 100 accredited sessions under seven tracks. One of the most popular was presented by CSI's Technical Services & Development Director Roger Grant and GreenFormat Task Team Chair Paul Bertram, FCSI, CDT, LEED AP. GreenFormat is a Web-based search now in development that will offer the construction industry objective data about the sustainable properties of building products. It is scheduled for release in November.

Construct2009 and the CSI Annual Convention will be held June 16 - 19 at the Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis. They will be co-located with The TFM Show, an event that focuses on the needs of senior facility managers.
